National Capital Region | Project Site: Fort Eustis, Virginia
Layer One Technology Solutions is seeking experienced BICSI-certified Copper and Fiber Technicians to support structured cabling and fiber-optic infrastructure for a mission-critical data center project at Fort Eustis, Virginia.
We’re looking for skilled professionals who take pride in precision workmanship, clean installations, organized cable management and the details that keep critical infrastructure performing as designed.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Technician certification preferred
- BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INST2) certification
- BICSI Installer 2, Fiber (INST2) certification
- Experience in data centers, telecommunications rooms, MDFs, IDFs or other mission-critical facilities
- Experience with commercial structured cabling, including copper and fiber backbone/distribution systems
- Ability to work within secure government or military-facility environments
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, label, test and document Cat6, Cat6A and fiber-optic cabling
- Perform copper and fiber certification testing using approved test equipment
- Install and dress horizontal and backbone cabling, patch panels, fiber enclosures, ladder racks, cable tray and associated infrastructure
- Maintain cable management, bend-radius compliance, pathway capacity, labeling accuracy and documentation standards
- Read and work from plans, cable schedules, rack elevations, riser diagrams and project specifications
- Follow site access, safety, security, escort, documentation and quality-control procedures
- Coordinate professionally with project managers, field leadership, customer representatives and other onsite trades
